Bomba Travel Guide

This lightly populated village is on the southwestern tip of Pulau Batu Daka]]. It isn’t a town so much as a cluster of hideaway resorts that represent the nicest place to stay on this particular island.

Most visitors land at Wakai Port and head straight for Kadidiri Island, easily the most idyllic of the Togeans. But boat schedules are fickle in this part of the country, and Bomba isn’t a bad place to spend a night or two while waiting for the next departure.

Local highlights include dramatic coral gardens fronting rustic resorts. Snorkels and masks can be rented from the front desk, providing swimmers with everything they need to explore the underwater realm. Certified divers will find a dive center at the Island Retreat Resort. Otherwise, most visitors waste no time in stringing up a hammock and enjoying the sublimely secluded beaches found at Bomba.

Getting There & Away

Access to the Togean Islands is through either Ampana or Gorontalo. In either case, a ferry (which travels for the best part of a day) docks at Wakai on Pulau Batu Daka and onward transportation to Bomba can usually be arranged through hotels. To get in and out of the region, catch a flight from Manado or Luwuk to Jakarta for a roster of international flights.
