Zhihua Temple is a Buddhist temple in Beijing, China, founded in 1443 during the Ming dynasty. It is noted for its well-preserved Ming and Qing-period architecture and cultural collections.
The complex contains timber-built ceremonial halls, side chapels, and small courtyards arranged on a modest urban footprint. Interior spaces hold clay sculptures, painted decoration, and ritual objects that reflect Ming and later repairs. The site is also known for occasional performances of traditional Buddhist chant and the local Zhihua Temple music tradition.
Constructed in 1443, the temple dates to the mid-Ming period and has been maintained and restored at intervals since then. It has served as a functioning monastic site and a repository for ritual art and music through successive dynastic and modern periods.
