Zerzevan Castle is an archaeological fortress site in Diyarbakır Province, southeastern Turkey, occupying a rocky hilltop and containing remains of a late Roman to early Byzantine military installation. Excavations at the site have revealed defensive structures, domestic spaces, and cultic installations.
Significant finds include an underground sanctuary interpreted as a Mithraic temple, subterranean corridors, and a sequence of buildings that reflect military and religious use in late antiquity. The complex shows successive phases of occupation and adaptation over time.
Modern archaeological campaigns beginning in the early 21st century have exposed much of the site’s plan and many artifacts, and the area is presented to visitors with pathways and information panels highlighting the fortress layout and the Mithraic shrine.
