The Yandang Mountains are a coastal mountain range in southeastern Zhejiang province, China, recognized for dramatic cliffs, rock spires and scenic waterfalls. The area contains a protected scenic zone that is a major regional attraction.

The mountains have been a focus for religious activity for centuries and were later developed as a tourist landscape in the 20th century; temples and pathways reflect long-standing cultural use of the cliffs and peaks.

Located in southeastern Zhejiang province within the coastal highlands, the Yandang range lies inland from the East China Sea and is approached from nearby county towns and the larger Wenzhou area.

  • Distinctive geology and temples: The range is noted for steep volcanic cliffs, rock towers, waterfalls and a concentration of Buddhist and Taoist temple sites integrated into the landscape.
  • Visiting notes: Popular hiking trails and viewing platforms concentrate in the designated scenic area; seasonal weather influences trail safety and waterfall flow.
