Wrigley Field is a historic Major League Baseball stadium in Chicago’s Lakeview neighbourhood and the home of the Chicago Cubs. Opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park and used by the Cubs from 1916 onward, it is one of the oldest ballparks in active use in the United States.

The venue is noted for its ivy-covered outfield walls, traditional manual scoreboard, and the rooftop seating that developed on adjacent buildings. It seats roughly 41,000 spectators and retains a distinctly early 20th-century ballpark character despite modern upgrades.

Over its history the park has undergone incremental renovations rather than wholesale replacement, preserving many historic elements while upgrading amenities and safety. The stadium remains a focal point of the surrounding commercial and residential neighbourhood.

Located in Chicago’s Lakeview district, the stadium is directly served by local public transport and is within the dense urban grid north of downtown Chicago.

Wrigley Field is at 1060 W Addison St in Chicago’s Lakeview (Wrigleyville). Take the CTA Red Line to the Addison stop - the station exit is adjacent to the ballpark (a matter of steps to the stadium). CTA bus 152 (Addison) also runs along Addison Street. From downtown Chicago (The Loop) it’s about 7-8 km north (roughly a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic); note parking is limited on game days.

• Take the CTA Red Line to Addison station - it deposits you right by the ballpark and is usually far quicker than driving or parking in Wrigleyville.
• Arrive at least 45-60 minutes before first pitch to soak up the neighborhood atmosphere, watch the grounds crew, and see the ivy-covered outfield walls; consider a non-game-day stadium tour if you want behind-the-scenes history without the crowds.
