The Whitney Museum of American Art is a New York museum dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century American art, founded by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. It maintains a large collection of painting, sculpture, film and new-media works by living and historical American artists.

Being in Manhattan, it’s also easily reached by many crosstown buses (e.g., the M14) or on foot from nearby neighborhoods.
