How to Get to Wadi Shab
Wadi Shab is reached from Tiwi or the nearby village of Sur in Ash Sharqiyah region. Most visitors park at the Tiwi jetty and take a short motorboat across the inlet (roughly 10-20 minutes) then walk along the rocky coastline and up the wadi approach. Local operators in Sur and Tiwi arrange boats and basic transport.
Tips for Visiting Wadi Shab
- Take the small motorboat transfer from Tiwi jetty rather than trying to walk the coastal ledge-the boat saves 30-40 minutes and is part of the ritual.
- Swim through the shaded cave to the waterfall only if a competent swimmer; currents can be deceptive and there is a narrow, dim stretch that demands care.
- Arrive midweek or early morning to avoid the weekend peak of Omani families, and bring a waterproof bag for camera gear.
