How to Get to Voss#
Voss is best reached via Bergen Airport (BGO) with a straightforward rail connection from Bergen to Voss station. Train travel is frequent, scenic and usually the most convenient option.
Bergen Airport, Flesland (BGO): Bergen is the nearest international airport. From BGO take the Flybussen or airport coach to Bergen city centre (≈30-35 minutes; tickets typically around NOK 200-240). From Bergen you can catch the regional Vy train to Voss (≈1 hour 20 minutes).
Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL): For longer international connections you may arrive in Oslo and take the Bergen Line (Bergensbanen) to Bergen (≈6.5-7 hours) then transfer onwards to Voss by regional train. Domestic flights to Bergen are also an option.
Train: Vy regional trains run Bergen ↔ Voss (terminating at Voss stasjon). The trip takes roughly 1h15-1h30 and is comfortable with good scenery; book via Vy for seat reservations and fares vary by advance purchase (typical single fares in the ~NOK 150-300 range).
Bus: Local buses serve the Voss area for valley and mountain destinations not on the rail line. Skyss operates regional bus routes; buses are useful for reaching trailheads and nearby villages - check timetables carefully, especially outside high season.

- Airport coach (Flybussen / Avinor) (NOK 200-240) - From Bergen Airport take Flybussen or the airport coach to Bergen Bus Station or the city centre (≈30-35 minutes). Coaches are frequent and timed to flights; buy tickets online, at machines, or from the driver.
- Local bus (Skyss) (NOK 30-100) - Local Skyss buses link Voss with surrounding valleys, trailheads and smaller settlements. Useful for short hops where no train line exists; check printed timetables or the Skyss app, especially in winter when services may change.
- Taxi (NOK 150-500) - Taxis are available but comparatively expensive; good for early-morning/late-night transfers or if you have heavy gear. Pre-book during peak festival periods (Voss hosts several events).
- Car rental (NOK 500-1000/day) - Renting a car gives full flexibility for exploring the surrounding fjords and mountain roads. Roads are well maintained but weather can change quickly - hire a vehicle suitable for mountain driving and check local conditions.
