Víziváros sits on the Buda bank of the Danube immediately west of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. The neighbourhood is a mix of elegant 19th-century streets, riverside promenades and small squares such as Batthyány Square, with cafés and family-run restaurants down towards the water.

By day it’s an easy place for a lazy wander, visit Rudas Baths, stroll the riverbank or take the funicular up to the castle precincts. Evenings are low-key: cosy bistros, a few wine bars and terrace cafés rather than a loud club scene. The area is well placed for sightseeing, with quick crossings to Pest and short climbs to panoramas at Fisherman’s Bastion and Gellért Hill.
