Vilkija is a small town north of Kaunas; most visitors arrive via Kaunas (KUN) or by rail/bus into Kaunas city centre and then continue by local bus or taxi. The short regional bus from Kaunas to Vilkija is the simplest option for public-transport travellers.
Kaunas Airport (KUN): The closest commercial airport. Regular buses connect the airport with Kaunas city centre (around 30-40 minutes); a single ticket typically costs about €2-€3. Taxis from the airport to Kaunas centre take 20-30 minutes and cost roughly €15-€25.
Vilnius Airport (VNO): A larger international option - Kaunas is ~90-100 minutes from Vilnius by road. From Vilnius you can take intercity buses or trains to Kaunas and then local onward transport to Vilkija.
