How to Get to Velipojë
Velipojë is a coastal village near Shkodër best accessed by road from Tirana or regional border crossings. Buses and minibuses to Shkodër followed by a short local transfer are the common public-transport route.
Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (TIA): Tirana is the main international airport for northern Albania. From Tirana you can reach Shkodër by bus or shuttle (about 2-3 hours) and then local transport or taxi to Velipojë on the coast.
Podgorica Airport (TGD): Podgorica (Montenegro) can be used for some regional connections; road travel from Podgorica to northern Albania is possible but subject to border formalities and longer travel times.
Train: Albania’s rail network is limited and not the main means to reach Velipojë; trains run on a few routes but are generally slow and infrequent.
Bus: Buses and minibuses (furgons) depart from Tirana’s northbound bus terminals to Shkodër; from Shkodër there are regular minibuses or taxis to Velipojë (the final leg is a short trip along the coast).
How to Get Around Velipojë #
Velipojë is a compact coastal town; the beach area and guesthouses are easily reached on foot. Tricycles or motorbikes are common for short hops, while local minibuses and taxis can take you to nearby towns such as Shkodër. In high season expect more frequent transport and seasonal bus routes.
