How to Get to Västergeta

Västergeta in the Åland countryside is reached via Mariehamn either by flight from Helsinki or by ferry from Turku/Stockholm. Åland has no trains; ferries plus local buses or taxis are the standard routes.

By Air

Mariehamn Airport (MHQ): Mariehamn is the main airport on Åland with scheduled flights from Helsinki (HEL). From MHQ it is a short drive to nearby villages; taxis and local buses connect the airport to Mariehamn town centre in about 10 minutes.

Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL): Many visitors fly to HEL and continue to Åland by a short domestic flight to MHQ or by ferry from Turku or Stockholm.

By Train & Bus

Train: There are no railways on Åland. The Finnish rail network can take you to Turku or Stockholm (on the Swedish side) before boarding a ferry to Åland.

Bus / Ferry: Ferries run from Turku and Stockholm to Mariehamn (operators like Viking Line and Tallink). The Turku-Mariehamn ferry takes about 5-6 hours and fares vary widely (foot-passenger tickets commonly start around €20-€40 depending on season and promotions).
