How to Get to Tyrnavos#
Tyrnavos is a small town in Thessaly best reached via Larissa. Fly into Thessaloniki (SKG) or Athens (ATH) and continue by train or KTEL coach to Larissa, then take a short local bus or taxi to Tyrnavos.
Thessaloniki Airport ‘Macedonia’ (SKG): The largest nearby international airport, about 95-110 km north of Tyrnavos (roughly 1.25-1.75 hours by car depending on route). From SKG you can rent a car, take a KTEL/coach toward Larissa and then a local bus or taxi to Tyrnavos.
Nea Anchialos / Volos area (Nea Anchialos Airport - limited services): Volos / Nea Anchialos has limited domestic connections; most international travellers use Thessaloniki (SKG) or Athens (ATH) and continue by road or train to Larissa and then to Tyrnavos.
Train: The nearest main rail hub is Larissa Railway Station (Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Λάρισας) on the Athens-Thessaloniki line. Larissa is about 12-18 km from Tyrnavos; regional trains from Athens or Thessaloniki to Larissa take ~2-4 hours depending on service.
Bus: KTEL Larissa runs frequent buses and local services between Larissa and Tyrnavos (approx 20-30 minutes).
