High / low are average daily temperatures (°C). “Feels” reflects how hot or cold it feels, allowing for humidity.
Funafuti (capital atoll and lagoon)
June is pleasantly breezy with lower humidity and daytime temperatures around 26-29°C; mornings are cooler and more breathable than the wet season. Sea conditions are calmer for boat transfers to nearby islets such as Amatuku and for guided snorkeling on the inner reef; fewer rain interruptions mean the tiny shops and cafés in Vaiaku run on a steadier schedule. Pack sun protection and a lightweight layer for windier evenings by the lagoon.
Northern atolls (Nanumea, Nanumanga, Niutao, Nui)
June tends to be the driest and most pleasant month for visiting the north atolls: steady trades, low rainfall and excellent conditions for fishing and reef walks at low tide. Niutao’s raised coral levels are easy to explore and day trips around Nanumea’s lagoon pass are calm and safe for small skiffs. Pack a windbreaker for early mornings and expect islanders to be out repairing nets and boats in fine weather.
Vaitupu and Nukufetau (central/eastern islands)
June is consistently windy and dry, ideal for exploring Nukufetau’s broad reef beaches and for safe lagoon excursions; mornings are cool and comfortable. Local craft sellers and fishers are active and schedules for launches between islands run more reliably than in the wet months. Bring a windbreaker for early hours and a light hat for glare when walking the exposed reef flats.
Southern atolls (Nukulaelae, Niulakita)
June offers steady trade winds and low rainfall, making it one of the most reliable months to reach Niulakita and Nukulaelae by launch or charter. Water around the atoll rims is clearer and calmer, enabling safer reef exploration and less choppy boat rides. Bring a moderate jacket for early mornings and book transport in advance because operators run limited trips even in good weather.
