Tunisia in April: Weather, Crowds & What to Expect

Northern Coast & Kroumirie Hills (Bizerte, Tabarka)

By April the countryside smells of wet earth and wild thyme as the north moves firmly into spring; Tabarka’s coastal cliffs and tiny bays thaw out after winter. Walks on Cap Negro and the Roman sites near Utica are pleasant, with daytime highs typically in the high teens to low 20s°C and cool evenings. This is an excellent shoulder-season time for diving and snorkelling here because the sea is clearer and there are far fewer holiday crowds than in summer.

By April the Cap Bon citrus groves are fragrant and the coast warms into reliably comfortable weather-perfect for visiting Hammamet’s medina or the morning markets in Nabeul. Sea temperatures start to feel fresher but inviting for the hardier; daytime highs often climb into the low 20s°C. Shoulder-season prices and smaller crowds make April one of the best months for sightseeing and coastal cycling.

Central Coast & Sahel (Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia, Sfax)

This is excellent time for extended desert trips before the intense heat of summer, with nights still cool enough for comfortable camping. Bring layered clothing for temperature swings and expect more operators to be running overnight desert camps and excursions.
