How to Get to Tukums
Tukums is best reached from Riga by regional train or bus; Riga International Airport (RIX) is the main air hub. Trains (to Tukums II) are frequent and convenient for visitors.
Riga International Airport (RIX): Tukums is usually reached through Riga. From RIX take an airport bus or taxi to Riga city centre (~€2-25, 25-30 minutes) then a train or bus to Tukums (see card 2). Taxi transfers from the airport to Tukums are available but significantly more expensive.
Alternative airports: For some regional travellers, arrivals via Lithuanian airports are possible but require long ground transfers; Riga is the recommended hub for Tukums.
Train: Pasažieru vilciens operates suburban/regional trains from Riga to Tukums (Tukums II station). Journey times are about 50-70 minutes depending on service and fares are typically €1.50-3. Trains are a dependable option for commuters and visitors.
Bus: Intercity buses from Riga also serve Tukums and may stop closer to some suburbs depending on route; journey time is similar to the train (approximately 1-1.5 hours) with fares roughly €2-5. Buses are useful if train times don’t suit you.
