How to Get to Tsnori#
Tsnori in Kakheti is reached most reliably from Tbilisi by marshrutka (shared minibus) or private taxi; Georgia’s bus network serves the region more than passenger rail. Expect simple, inexpensive overland travel and flexible pickup points in Tbilisi.
Tbilisi International (TBS): The main international gateway for Kakheti. From Tbilisi take a marshrutka (shared minibus) or a private taxi to Tsnori-journeys to the Kakheti wine region typically take 1.5-2.5 hours (marshrutka fares approx. GEL 6-10; private taxi GEL 80-150 depending on vehicle and negotiation).
Kutaisi (KUT): Further away (3-4+ hours). Kutaisi is less convenient for Kakheti; most travelers prefer flights to Tbilisi for speed and onward connections.
Train: Georgia’s rail services in Kakheti are limited for passenger travel; trains are not the main way to reach Tsnori.
Marshrutka / Bus: Shared marshrutkas run from Tbilisi Didube or other intercity bus stations to Kakheti towns (Telavi, Gurjaani) and often continue to smaller villages like Tsnori. Travel times from Tbilisi to Telavi/Tsnori are about 1.5-2.5 hours and fares are low (approx. GEL 6-10).

- Marshrutka (shared minibus) (GEL 6-GEL 10) - Shared marshrutkas depart from Tbilisi’s Didube or Ortachala stations for towns across Kakheti, including routes that stop at or near Tsnori. They are cheap and frequent during daytime but can fill quickly-arrive early for a seat.
- Taxi / private transfer (GEL 80-GEL 160) - Private taxis or arranged transfers are faster and more comfortable for door-to-door travel from Tbilisi, especially with luggage or in a group. Negotiate fares ahead; transfers to Kakheti commonly cost GEL 80-GEL 160 depending on vehicle and distance.
- Regional bus (GEL 7-GEL 12) - Larger coach services run to major Kakheti towns like Telavi; from there you can catch a local taxi or marshrutka to Tsnori. Coaches are comfortable for longer trips but offer fewer stops to small villages.
