Troitskaya Tower marks one of the Kremlin’s main gates in Moscow; tourists note its red-brick architecture while exploring the Kremlin walls, Armoury and Red Square nearby.
The Troitskaya (Trinity) Tower is one of the towers of the Moscow Kremlin, constructed in the late 15th century. It forms part of the Kremlin’s fortified wall and historically included a gate through the wall.
Erected in the late 1400s as part of the program to rebuild and reinforce the Kremlin’s walls, the Troitskaya Tower served as a gate and defensive structure and has been altered over centuries along with the rest of the Kremlin.
The tower stands on the western side of the Moscow Kremlin in central Moscow, adjoining the Alexander Garden and forming part of the ensemble that faces Red Square.

How to Get to Troitskaya Tower #
The Troitskaya (Trinity) Tower is one of the Kremlin towers on the western side of the Moscow Kremlin, adjacent to Alexander Garden and Manezhnaya Square. The Kremlin area is best reached by metro - Biblioteka Imeni Lenina, Aleksandrovsky Sad and Borovitskaya stations are all within roughly a 5-10 minute walk of the Kremlin walls; follow pedestrian signs for Alexander Garden/Red Square to reach the tower area. Note that entry into the Kremlin grounds requires purchase of tickets and goes through designated entrances.
Tips for Visiting Troitskaya Tower #
- Buy Kremlin tickets (and any Armoury Museum tickets) online in advance and arrive at the appointed time - entry is timed and queues for on-site purchases can be long.
- Approach the Kremlin complex via Alexander Garden and allow extra time for security screening; all visitors pass through metal detectors and bag checks before entering.
- Visit early in the day to avoid peak crowds inside the Kremlin and to secure better photos of the towers and cathedrals once you are through security.
