How to Get to Tremezzo
Tremezzo on the western shore of Lake Como is best reached via Milan airports and then by train to Como, followed by a short ferry or bus to Tremezzo. The boat is the most pleasant and often most practical final leg of the journey.
Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP): MXP is a major international hub for the Lake Como area. From Malpensa take the Malpensa Express to Milano Centrale (~50 minutes, €13) then a Trenitalia/Trenord regional train to Como S. Giovanni (~40-45 minutes, €3-€6) and then boat or bus to Tremezzo. Total travel time from MXP to Tremezzo is typically 2-3 hours depending on connections.
Milan Linate (LIN) / Bergamo (BGY): LIN is closer to Milan city centre (shorter transfer to rail hubs); BGY (Orio al Serio) is an alternative with good budget connections - both require a rail/bus transfer via Milan to reach Como and then Tremezzo.
Train: From Milano Centrale take regional Trenord trains to Como S. Giovanni. From Como you can take a local boat (Navigazione Lago di Como) to Tremezzo (ferries and faster hydrofoils operate; crossing time varies 30-60 minutes depending on service) or a bus along the lakeside.
Bus / boat: The boat is one of the most scenic and practical ways to reach Tremezzo from Como; expect single‑ticket fares for the public ferry in the range of a few euros to around €8-€15 depending on route and type (slow ferry vs. fast service). Buses run around the lake but are slower and subject to road traffic.
How to Get Around Tremezzo #
Tremezzo is compact and pleasant to explore on foot along the lakefront. Regular ferry and hydrofoil services operated by Navigazione Laghi connect Tremezzo with other Lake Como towns; buses link the town to nearby inland centres. Car parking can be limited in the high season, so public boats and buses are convenient alternatives. Ferries are a reliable and scenic way to hop between lakeside towns, especially during summer.
