How to Get to Toukh
Toukh (Qalyubiyya Governorate) is reached most easily via Cairo: use Cairo International Airport (CAI) for flights and Cairo's main rail/bus terminals for overland arrival. Once in Cairo, local minibuses, shared taxis and occasional regional trains connect toward Toukh.
Cairo International Airport (CAI): Cairo International is the main gateway for Toukh. From CAI you can take the airport shuttle or a taxi into Cairo (shuttle ~EGP 50-70, 45-60 min to central Cairo); from central Cairo use shared minibuses/microbuses toward Qalyubiyya/Toukh (see local microbus stations) - minibuses typically cost EGP 10-30 and take 40-70 minutes depending on traffic.
Alexandria/Other airports: Alexandria’s Borg El Arab (HBE) and smaller domestic airports are further away; if arriving there you’ll need an intercity coach or taxi into Cairo then the same onward microbus/taxi connection to Toukh (coach/taxi times vary).
Train: Egypt National Rail services run from Cairo’s Ramses (Misr) Station toward the Delta; regional trains and slow services are the cheapest option (fares commonly start from a few EGP). Trains are useful to reach larger nearby towns; you will normally change in central Cairo and complete the last leg by microbus or taxi to Toukh.
Bus / Microbus: Intercity and local minibuses run from central Cairo terminals and from nearby Qalyubiyya hubs to Toukh. Microbuses are frequent, inexpensive (roughly EGP 10-30) and take 40-80 minutes from Cairo suburbs depending on traffic; larger intercity coaches run between governorate centres and take longer but are more comfortable.
How to Get Around Toukh #
Toukh is a compact town; much of the centre is walkable for short visits. Expect to get around on foot for markets and neighbourhood streets. Longer trips rely on shared microbuses and minibuses to Cairo and nearby towns, plus private taxis and motorcycle taxis. Fares are cheap (a few Egyptian pounds for local minibuses); always confirm or negotiate a taxi fare beforehand.
