The Grand Egyptian Museum is a purpose-built archaeological museum complex on the Giza Plateau near Cairo and the Great Pyramids, intended to display and conserve extensive ancient Egyptian antiquities. It was designed to centralize major museum collections and archaeological research facilities.

Exhibition galleries present chronologically arranged artifacts from prehistoric through Pharaonic Egypt, with major galleries devoted to the materials from Tutankhamun’s tomb. The complex also includes conservation laboratories and large display halls intended for long-term research and public presentation.

Planned and constructed in phases during the 21st century to relocate and better preserve the national collections from older museums, the complex has been developed as a modern museum facility with conservation and exhibition infrastructure.

Sited on the Giza Plateau directly north of the Great Pyramids, the museum is immediately adjacent to the archaeological landscape and provides direct sightlines toward the pyramids from its terraces.

• Terraces and pyramid viewpoints: Terraced exhibition levels and rooftop viewing areas that provide curated galleries and sightlines toward the nearby Giza pyramids.

The Grand Egyptian Museum sits on the Giza Plateau just north of the Giza Pyramid complex. From central Cairo or Giza it is most commonly reached by taxi or organized tour; the main approach roads include Al‑Ahram/Al‑Haram Road toward the pyramids. Travel time varies with traffic-expect a taxi ride from central Cairo or Giza and short local transfer from the pyramid parking areas to the museum entrance.
