How to Get to Torrenieri
Torrenieri (near Montalcino) is served by regional trains to nearby towns and by seasonal buses; a car is the most convenient way to reach vineyards and hilltop towns. Trains plus a bus or taxi work for budget travellers, but allow time for connections.
Florence-Peretola (FLR): Florence airport is convenient for much of Tuscany. From Florence you can take a train toward Siena/Chiusi or a bus to reach the Val d’Orcia area; total travel time to Torrenieri (near Montalcino) is commonly around 1.5-2.5 hours by rail/bus combination or about 1.5 hours by car.
Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) / Pisa (PSA): Both Rome and Pisa airports are viable depending on flight options - Rome is farther but offers more international connections. From Rome or Pisa, take a train to Chiusi-Chianciano or Siena and then a local bus/taxi to Torrenieri; expect longer travel times (2-3 hours or more).
Train: The nearest mainline station for Torrenieri is Buonconvento or Chiusi-Chianciano (depending on your direction); trains to Buonconvento and Chiusi are on regional routes. From those stations you’ll take a bus or taxi for the short final leg into Torrenieri.
Bus: Tiemme / Autolinee Toscane operate regional buses around the Val d’Orcia and Montalcino area; buses connect Siena, Buonconvento and Montalcino with local stops including Torrenieri. Frequency is limited-check timetables for seasonal changes.
How to Get Around Torrenieri #
Torrenieri is a small village in the Montalcino area and can be explored on foot within the settlement. For wineries, hill towns and countryside drives a car is recommended. Local buses connect to nearby towns but are not very frequent; taxis are limited. Many visitors travel to Montalcino for broader services and amenities.
