The commission dates to the papacy of Pius II (Enea Silvio Piccolomini) and the work is attributed to the circle of the architect Bernardo Rossellino, who planned much of the town’s Renaissance layout. How to Get to Palazzo Piccolomini
Palazzo Piccolomini is in the centre of Pienza on Corso Rossellino, just off the main square. If you are already in Pienza it’s an immediate, short walk from any central bus stop or parking area (a minute or two across the piazza). The nearest major railway station is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (around 25-35 km); from there you can drive to Pienza (about 30-40 minutes via SR2) or take regional buses that serve Pienza.
