Tokyo DisneySea
Amusement Park Nautical-themed Disney park adjacent to Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo DisneySea at Urayasu presents maritime-themed ports, theatrical shows and unique attractions not found at other Disney parks; visitors combine rides with waterfront dining.
Tokyo DisneySea is a theme park in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, operated by the Oriental Land Company under licence from The Walt Disney Company. It opened in 2001 and is themed around ports of call and maritime exploration, with a design emphasis on elaborate environments and night-time shows.
The park is organised into seven distinct ‘ports’ including Mediterranean Harbor, Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Port Discovery, Lost River Delta and American Waterfront. Each port contains multiple attractions, shows and themed dining options tailored to families and adult visitors.
Tokyo DisneySea was conceived as a second Disney park for the Tokyo area with a unique nautical concept and higher proportions of rides aimed at older children and adults compared with Tokyo Disneyland. The park frequently stages seasonal events and limited-time shows in addition to its core attractions.
Located next to Tokyo Disneyland in the Tokyo Disney Resort complex, DisneySea is accessible from Tokyo by rail and bus services and is a short trip from central Tokyo via the Keiyo and Musashino lines to Maihama Station.
- Opening and concept: Opened on September 4, 2001; the park is built around an original concept of sea-related themed ports and is adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland in Urayasu, Chiba.
- Visiting tips: The park is organised into seven themed ports, many with indoor attractions that make it suitable for wet weather; advance reservations and weekday visits reduce queue times.

Tips for Visiting Tokyo DisneySea #
- Arrive at least 30-60 minutes before opening (rope drop) on most days-Tokyo DisneySea's signature attractions build long lines quickly, especially on weekends and holidays.
- Use the Tokyo Disney Resort Line and get off at Tokyo DisneySea Station for the shortest walk to the main gates; the official Tokyo Disney Resort app is essential for booking paid Premier Access and checking live wait times.
- If you want to avoid the longest queues without paying for Premier Access, plan to visit popular shows and attractions either immediately at opening or later in the afternoon when some lines dip; also schedule any nighttime shows early in your day since they can create big late-evening crowds.
Best Time to Visit Tokyo DisneySea #
Visit on a weekday outside school holidays (mid‑Jan-Mar or Sep-Nov) for the smoothest Tokyo DisneySea experience.
