Tokyo Disneyland is a theme park in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, opened in April 1983 and operated by the Oriental Land Company under license from The Walt Disney Company. The park’s layout and attractions are modelled on the Magic Kingdom concept and it forms part of the larger Tokyo Disney Resort.
The park is divided into themed lands such as World Bazaar, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and hosts parades, shows, and a mix of family and thrill attractions. It is one of Japan’s most visited theme parks and is commonly paired with Tokyo DisneySea, the neighbouring second park in the resort.
Tokyo Disneyland is in Urayasu city on Tokyo’s eastern edge, with easy rail access from central Tokyo and numerous resort hotels and transport links serving day visitors and multi-day guests.

How to Get to Tokyo Disneyland #
Take the JR Keiyo Line or Musashino Line to Maihama Station (Urayasu, Chiba); trains run from Tokyo Station directly on the Keiyo Line (about 15 minutes). From Maihama you can walk to the Tokyo Disneyland entrance (roughly 10-15 minutes) or take the Disney Resort Line one stop to Tokyo Disneyland Station. Major highways access the resort from central Tokyo.
Tips for Visiting Tokyo Disneyland #
- Use the official Tokyo Disney Resort app to check real-time wait times and to reserve any available paid/priority access options-this will help you prioritize headliner attractions right at park opening (rope drop).
- Arrive at the park gates well before posted opening on busy days; many guests target a handful of popular rides first, so being inside at rope drop lets you hit those with much shorter waits.
- Plan shows and parades by consulting the daily entertainment schedule in the app so you can arrange ride reservations or low-wait periods around performances rather than competing for both.
Best Time to Visit Tokyo Disneyland #
Plan weekday visits in mid-January/February or shoulder seasons for shorter lines; avoid Golden Week, summer school holidays and New Year if you want to minimize crowds.
