How to Get to Tiznit#
Tiznit in southern Morocco is best reached by road from Agadir (AGA) where regular buses and taxis connect the two cities. CTM/Supratours buses offer a reliable and economical option for most travelers.
Agadir - Al Massira Airport (AGA): Agadir’s airport is the main gateway for Tiznit, about 70-90 km north by road. From Agadir airport you can take a CTM/Supratours bus or a taxi to Tiznit-travel time around 1-1.75 hours. Private taxis cost more (approx 300-600 MAD depending on negotiation), while CTM buses are cheaper.
Essaouira (ESU) / Marrakech (RAK): Marrakech is further away but sometimes used for connections; road transfers from Marrakech to Tiznit take significantly longer (several hours) and are less convenient than Agadir.
Train: Tiznit does not have a high-speed rail connection; the rail network in the region focuses on the Casablanca-Rabat-Marrakech corridor. For rail travel you generally travel to Agadir or larger hubs and continue by road.
Bus: CTM and Supratours run regular comfortable buses between Agadir and Tiznit (approx 1-1.75 hours). Buses are the most reliable public option for reaching Tiznit from Agadir and major cities; fares are affordable (typically several dozen MAD depending on service class).
How to Get Around Tiznit#
For most visitors CTM/Supratours buses from Agadir are the simplest and most reliable way to reach Tiznit; once there, petit taxis and walking make getting around the medina easy.
- CTM / Supratours buses (~20-80 MAD (depending on class and distance)) - CTM and Supratours run scheduled services linking Agadir and Tiznit-comfortable, air‑conditioned coaches with luggage hold and predictable timetables. They are the preferred public option for visitors.
- Taxis (grand taxi/private) (~150-600 MAD (depending on route and negotiation)) - Grand taxis operate between towns and can be faster than buses; private taxis are more expensive but offer door‑to‑door service. Agree a fare ahead of time for fixed transfers from Agadir airport or station.
- Car hire / self-drive (€25-60/day (rental)) - Renting a car gives flexibility to explore coastal roads and surrounding countryside; road signage is acceptable and parking in town centres is manageable but watch for narrow streets in medina areas.
- Local buses / petit taxi (~5-30 MAD) - Within Tiznit, petit taxis and local buses cover neighbourhoods and short trips. Petit taxis are inexpensive for short hops but insist on using the metre or agree a price before starting.
- Walking - Tiznit’s medina and old town are compact and best explored on foot-narrow lanes and souks reward walking. Wear sensible shoes for cobbled streets and carry water in summer.
