Tiergarten is the large central park that gives the neighbourhood its name, bordered by wide boulevards such as Straße des 17. Juni and dotted with memorials, lakes and formal gardens. The government quarter and parliamentary buildings sit along the park’s eastern edge, with the glass dome of the Reichstag building a prominent landmark.

By day the area feels spacious and calm, ideal for walking, cycling and museums; by night it quietens down to soft-lit avenues and a handful of bars and beer gardens. The Victory Column, the Soviet War Memorial and the lawns around the lakes are the park’s main draws, while the Berlin Zoo and the shopping pockets near Potsdamer Platz and Kurfürstendamm add variety.
