How to Get to Temixco

Temixco is immediately adjacent to Cuernavaca in the state of Morelos; the small General Mariano Matamoros Airport (CVJ) lies nearby, while Mexico City's Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) is the main international gateway. Most visitors arrive by road from MEX or by bus into the Central de Autobuses de Cuernavaca and then transfer a short distance to Temixco.

By Air

General Mariano Matamoros International Airport (CVJ): CVJ is the small airport that serves the Cuernavaca/Temixco area. Taxis from the CVJ apron to central Temixco or nearby Cuernavaca typically take about 10-20 minutes and cost around MXN 50-150; some days there are car-rental desks at the airport but scheduled commercial flights are limited.

Mexico City - Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX): MEX is the main international gateway for reaching Temixco. By road it is roughly 1.5-2.5 hours depending on traffic: direct airport-to-Cuernavaca buses and shuttles are available for about MXN 150-300 and take ~1.5-2.5 hours; ride‑hailing (Uber) or private transfer to Temixco/Cuernavaca generally runs MXN 600-1,400 and takes about 1.5-2 hours; authorized airport taxis and private transfers are more expensive (often MXN 1,200+) but provide a door‑to‑door option.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no regular intercity passenger rail service serving Temixco or Cuernavaca. Mexico’s suburban and intercity rail lines do not connect this part of Morelos, so trains are not a practical arrival option.

Bus: Long‑distance buses arrive at the Central de Autobuses de Cuernavaca (Cuernavaca bus terminal) from Mexico City and other southern cities. Major operators on the Mexico City-Cuernavaca corridor include Pullman de Morelos and other intercity lines; fares from Mexico City are commonly MXN 150-300 with a journey time of ~1.5-2.5 hours. From the Cuernavaca terminal it’s a short taxi or colectivo ride to Temixco (about 15-25 minutes, MXN 20-60). Local colectivos and route buses connect Temixco with nearby towns at lower fares.

How to Get Around Temixco

Temixco is easiest to navigate by short taxi or colectivo rides for most local trips and by intercity bus for arrivals from Mexico City. If you want full flexibility to visit surrounding towns and attractions rent a car; otherwise a mix of colectivos, local buses and Uber/taxi is the most practical approach.
