Syria in October: Weather, Crowds & What to Expect

Coastal Plain (Latakia & Tartus)

October is comfortingly mild along the coast with plenty of golden days and temperatures in the high teens to low twenties; the first autumn storms sometimes arrive late in the month. Citrus groves start to fruit and the low-angle sun makes harbour walks appealing; it’s a good month for exploring coastal ruins without the summer bustle. Bring a mix of light layers and a raincoat for occasional wet days.

Coastal Mountains (Jabal al-Nusayriyah / Slinfah & resorts)

October brings crisp, clear weather and the first occasional mountain storms; daytime temperatures remain pleasant for walks and the autumn colours in sheltered valleys start to show. Tourist numbers fall, making local homestays and guesthouses more relaxed, though some higher trails may get slick after rain. Northwest & Aleppo Region (Aleppo, Idlib, Afrin)
