Swan Islands, Honduras

The Swan Islands are a small group of low-lying islands in the Caribbean Sea that are administratively part of Honduras’s Bay Islands Department. They are remote and sparsely inhabited, and are primarily of interest for their marine and seabird habitats.

The islands are not developed for mass tourism; most visits are by private boat and are focused on snorkeling, diving on nearby reefs, and seabird observation. There are no established visitor facilities or regular ferry services.

Sovereignty and administration have been held by Honduras in modern times; the islands have seen occasional use for maritime navigation and weather reporting in the 20th century. They have not been heavily developed and retain limited infrastructure.

Geographically the group lies in the northwestern Caribbean Sea off the northern coast of Honduras. The islands are isolated from major population centers and sit within the maritime territory of the Bay Islands Department.
