Suvarnabhumi Airport
Airport Airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Bangkok’s main international airport and has a single large passenger terminal building handling domestic and international flights. Before the pandemic it handled around 60 million passengers a year; traffic has since fluctuated while recovery continues. The airport is the primary base for Thai Airways and its regional brands (Thai Smile), with many full-service international carriers operating from the terminal. Many low-cost carriers use Don Mueang instead of Suvarnabhumi.
The facility is organized as one multi-level terminal with separated arrival and departure levels, a central landside area for check-in and ground transport, and extensive airside concourses with gates, shops and lounges.
Terminal Guide for Suvarnabhumi Airport #
Suvarnabhumi uses a single, large terminal building for arrivals and departures; international and domestic flights operate from the same terminal. Check-in, bag drop and major airline transfer desks are on the landside levels while passport control and departure gates are arranged along the airside concourses. Full-service carriers (notably Thai Airways and its group) operate their premium lounges and check-in areas here; many other international airlines also use the terminal. Basic passenger services - restaurants, shops, duty-free, transfer desks and multiple airline lounges - are available throughout the airside areas.
Because the airport is one integrated terminal, most transfers can be done airside without leaving the terminal; landside transfers (for example to nearby airport hotels) use covered walkways, shuttles or short taxi rides.

Tips for Suvarnabhumi Airport #
- Use the Airport Rail Link (City Line) to avoid rush-hour road traffic - it reaches Phaya Thai (BTS) in about 25-30 minutes and connects you into the city metro network.

- If you have separate tickets and must transfer between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi, allow at least 3 hours (traffic and a taxi/shuttle between airports can take a long time).
