Seoul & Northwest (Gyeonggi, Incheon, Yellow Sea coast)

By late April the city is often in bloom: Yeouido’s cherry blossom festival typically peaks around mid-to-late April, filling riverside paths with crowds. Temperatures are mild and comfortable, often topping 18-22°C (64-72°F), though evenings remain cool. This is one of the best months to explore palaces, markets and the Han River bike paths - pack a light sweater and a compact umbrella for unexpected showers.

Gangwon Province & the Taebaek Mountains (Sokcho, Pyeongchang, Seoraksan)

April brings early spring warmth to the east coast, and lower valleys show green shoots while alpine slopes keep pockets of snow. Sokcho opens up for seafood markets and the cable car to Seoraksan’s mid-station runs in more stable weather; wildflower season begins lower down. Daytime temperatures are comfortable for coastal walks and temple visits, but mountain weather can still swing to freezing - pack a warm layer for summit attempts.

Central Korea (Chungcheong, Daejeon, Cheongju, Boryeong)

April is a comfortable and popular month for gardens and temple visits as cherry and plum blossoms appear across the central provinces. The Boryeong area starts to warm, and rural tea terraces in nearby areas become scenic for day trips. With milder days, outdoor markets and night walks are enjoyable; pack a light sweater for evenings and a small umbrella for brief spring showers.

Yeongnam / Southeast (Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, Gyeongsang)

April is lively with cherry and canola blooms across the southeast - the Jinhae Festival is a short drive away and fills up fast. Beaches such as Gwangalli and Haeundae become increasingly attractive for sunset strolls, and Busan International Film Festival preparations are visible as the city pulses with activity. Pack comfortable walking shoes and a sweater for cooler evenings by the sea.

Jeolla & Southwest (Gwangju, Mokpo, Suncheon, Boseong)

April blooms across tea plantations in Boseong and the countryside brightens with cherry and plum flowers; Gwangju’s art and cultural festivals often run in this pleasant month. Temperatures are comfortable for walking and cycling, though evenings remain cool. This is a very good month for photographers and foodies sampling spring seafood at Mokpo markets - a light sweater suits both day and night.

Jeju Island (Hallasan, Seogwipo, Jeju City, Udo)

April is a popular month as wildflowers and cherry trees brighten the landscape; Olle trails open up for pleasant day hikes and waterfalls like Cheonjiyeon in Seogwipo run well. Temperatures are comfortable for outdoor pursuits, though occasional wet days appear. Book accommodation early for weekends and Easter holiday travel, and bring comfortable walking shoes with a light rain shell.
