Soho Square

Soho Square is a historic garden square in the Soho district of the City of Westminster in central London, located in the West End near Oxford Street and Cambridge Circus. The square dates to the late 17th century and remains a small green space amid dense urban development.

The central planted garden with seating and mature trees is the square’s primary attraction, surrounded by restaurants, offices and media businesses. It is commonly used by local workers and visitors as a sheltered urban pause point.

Originally laid out in the late 1600s as part of the development of the West End, the square transitioned from a residential area in the 18th and 19th centuries to a predominantly commercial and leisure district. Many of the surrounding buildings retain historic facades while accommodating modern uses.

Soho Square sits in the heart of Soho in central London, within easy walking distance of Piccadilly Circus and Tottenham Court Road.
