Singer Laren is an art museum and concert venue in the town of Laren, North Holland, Netherlands, established from the collection of William and Anna Singer in the mid 20th century.

The site combines a museum displaying the Singers’ collection of paintings and decorative arts with a small concert hall and a landscaped garden. Exhibition spaces typically show works spanning 19th and 20th century Dutch and international artists alongside rotating temporary shows; concert programming offers chamber and solo performances throughout the year.

The museum grew from the Singers’ private collection and was opened to the public in the mid 20th century to house and display their holdings and to serve the cultural life of Laren. The complex has been expanded and renovated over time to provide gallery space and performance facilities.

Located in central Laren in North Holland, the museum sits within walking distance of the town centre and its shops and galleries, about 30 km southeast of Amsterdam by road.

• Origins: The collection originated from the Singers’ personal holdings and was made public in the mid 20th century, combining Dutch and international works with applied arts.
• Concerts: Onsite concert programming regularly complements exhibitions, making it both an art museum and live-music venue.

What to See#

• Singer Laren museum and concert hall: Houses the art collection assembled by the American painter William H. Singer and his wife Anna, displayed in a purpose-built museum and adjoining villa. The complex includes a small concert hall used for regular chamber music and local cultural events.
• Singer gardens: A landscaped garden that frames the museum and villa, often used for outdoor events and summer concerts.

Take train services from Amsterdam Centraal to Hilversum (about 30 minutes), then local bus 107/2 or taxis to Laren - the museum is a 10-15 minute walk from the village centre. By car, follow the A1/E30 and local signs for Laren; parking is available near Grote Kerkstraat.

• If the temporary exhibition galleries are full, the museum café and lake-side garden are worth the visit for sculpture and light alone.
• Arrive after 2pm on a weekday to avoid the morning school-group crowd.
• Check the museum's website for temporary exhibitions - the Singer Laren is known for well-curated 19th-20th-century shows.
