The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid) is the audiovisual archive and museum located in Hilversum, North Holland, that preserves Dutch radio, television, film, and sound collections. It combines public exhibition space with large archival and conservation facilities.

Exhibition galleries display historical and contemporary media material and interactive exhibits about broadcasting and media history. Behind the scenes are vaults, digitization labs, and research facilities that store and preserve analogue and digital collections.

The institute was formed to centralize and preserve national broadcast collections; a purpose-built facility on the Media Park was completed in the mid-2000s to bring together public and archival functions. Since then it has operated as both a museum and a national archive for Dutch audiovisual heritage.

The complex sits on Hilversum’s Media Park, the Netherlands’ traditional broadcasting district, roughly 30 km southeast of Amsterdam and easily reached from the Amsterdam region.

The institute is in Hilversum’s Media Park, about 25-30 minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal to Hilversum station; from the station take bus 2 or a 15-20 minute walk (roughly 1.6 km) along the canal to Media Parklaan. By car it’s off the A27; parking is available on site.

• Buy tickets online to skip the long weekend queues; the interactive exhibits have timed entries.
• Take the glass elevator to the upper public galleries - the acoustics change and most visitors miss the rooftop view of Hilversum Media Park.
• Listen to at least one Dutch radio documentary in the original language; English translations flatten the cadence and the archival crackle is part of the experience.
