Sidi Bou Said is best reached from Tunis by the TGM suburban train - a short, scenic ride from central Tunis. Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN) is the nearest airport; buses or taxis plus the TGM are the usual arrival combinations.

Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE): A secondary option for budget flights; transfers into Tunis take about 1-1.5 hours by coach or private transfer and cost around 15-30 TND.
Train / TGM: Sidi Bou Said is served directly by the TGM (Tunis-La Marsa) suburban rail line - the most convenient public transport link from central Tunis (Tunis Marine) to Sidi Bou Said. Single fares are very low and journey time from central Tunis is 20-30 minutes.

- Local buses and louages (1-4 TND) - Buses and louages run from Tunis to the La Marsa/Sidi Bou Said area. Louages are fast and cheap but leave when full; local buses are slower but very frequent and inexpensive for short hops.
- Taxi (10-20 TND) - Taxis are convenient for door-to-door travel and when carrying luggage. Negotiate or insist on the meter; expect 10-20 TND from the airport or central Tunis depending on time of day.
- Walking within Sidi Bou Said - The village is compact and best explored on foot. Streets are narrow and hilly - take comfortable shoes and watch for scooters on the narrow lanes.
