Seoul Central Mosque

Seoul Central Mosque is the principal mosque in South Korea, located in the Itaewon neighbourhood of Seoul and serving the city’s Muslim community for worship and community activities. It is the first large mosque established in the country and functions as a focal point for Islamic practice in Seoul.

The mosque complex includes a prayer hall, community facilities and spaces for religious education and social events, and it holds regular Friday prayers and services during Islamic observances. The building also serves as a contact point for Muslim visitors and expatriates in the city.

Constructed in the 1970s with international assistance, the mosque has been an active religious and cultural institution since opening and supports both local and visiting Muslim populations. It also accommodates non-Muslim visitors outside of prayer times for cultural and educational purposes.

The mosque is situated in the Itaewon area of central Seoul, a neighbourhood known for international shops, restaurants and proximity to Namsan and central transport links.
