Scuola Grande di San Marco Religious Site

Scuola Grande di San Marco is a historic confraternity building in Venice, in the Veneto region of Italy, associated with one of the city’s great lay brotherhoods. The building is notable for its ornate Renaissance façade and for serving social and charitable functions in the city.

The structure contains decorated halls and sculptural elements typical of Venetian scuole grandi and has been preserved as part of Venice’s architectural ensemble around the Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo. In modern times the building has been repurposed for civic uses and cultural display while retaining much of its external ornamentation.

The Scuola stands beside the church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo in the northern part of Venice’s historic centre and is accessible on foot from major Venetian routes and vaporetto stops serving the area.
