How to Get to Saue
Saue is a small town just west of Tallinn; most visitors arrive via Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL) or Tallinn's Balti jaam rail hub and then transfer on regional trains or buses. Travel from Tallinn is short and frequent, making day trips straightforward.
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL): Tallinn Airport is the main gateway for Saue. From the airport you can take Tallinn city buses toward the centre (single ticket ~€2, ~20-30 min to central Tallinn depending on traffic) and then transfer to local buses or Elron trains toward Saue; a taxi from the airport to Saue/Tallinn suburbs typically costs around €12-20 and takes ~20-30 min.
Tartu Airport (TAY): Tartu Airport has only limited regional services; for most international travellers it is more useful if you are coming from within Estonia. From Tartu airport it’s a short taxi ride into Tartu (~10-15 min, ~€8-15) where you can catch Elron trains or intercity buses toward Saue (longer overall travel than via Tallinn).
Train: Elron regional trains run from Tallinn’s Balti jaam and serve stations on the western route toward Keila and Paldiski; Saue is on the commuter corridor west of Tallinn and is reachable by Elron (Balti jaam → Saue). Travel time from Tallinn central (Balti jaam) to Saue is short (around 20-30 minutes); buy tickets on the Elron app or at stations.
Bus: Intercity and local buses run from Tallinn Bus Station (Tallinna Bussijaam) to the Saue area; local Tallinn city buses also run between Tallinn and Saue. Tickets on regional buses are sold on board or via operator apps; expect short rides of 25-40 minutes from central Tallinn depending on route.
