The Sapporo Clock Tower is a late 19th-century wooden building in central Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, noted for its historical clock and role as a landmark of the city. It was completed in 1878 as part of the Sapporo Agricultural College complex.

The structure contains exhibits on the building’s history and Sapporo’s early development; the large mechanical clock, installed in the 1880s, continues to operate and marks the hour. The tower’s simple, Western-influenced wooden architecture contrasts with surrounding modern city buildings.

Originally built for use by the agricultural college, the building has been preserved as a municipal historic site and museum since the early 20th century.

The clock tower stands in the centre of Sapporo close to Odori Park, making it readily accessible to visitors exploring the city core.

The Sapporo Clock Tower is in central Sapporo (Chūō-ku) near Odori Park. From Sapporo Station it’s about a 10-15 minute walk (roughly 800-1,000 m) east; alternatively take the subway to Odori Station (served by the Namboku, Tōzai and Tōhō lines) and walk 3-5 minutes. The site is easy to reach by taxi or on foot from most downtown locations.

• Arrive right when the Sapporo Clock Tower opens or late in the afternoon to avoid the peak tour-bus periods and secure a spot inside the small exhibition space before it fills.
• Don't just photograph the exterior: spend time in the upstairs exhibits and ask the staff for the brief historical explanation about the building's role in Sapporo's founding-many visitors only take exterior shots and miss the interior displays.
