The Minor Basilica of San Sebastian is an all-steel Neo-Gothic church in the Quiapo district of Manila, Philippines. It was completed in 1891 and is notable for its prefabricated iron construction.
The interior shows exposed steel ribs and slender columns that create an uninterrupted nave and Gothic pointed arches. Visitors often note the embossed steel panels and the contrast between its metal structure and the more common masonry churches in Manila.
Constructed from prefabricated steel components manufactured abroad and assembled on site, the present basilica replaced earlier churches on the same parcel. It has remained an active parish while requiring ongoing conservation work to manage corrosion and structural maintenance.
The church is located on Plaza del Carmen in Quiapo, within Manila’s central district and a short walk from other central landmarks in the city.
