La Aurora International Airport, Guatemala City (GUA): La Aurora is the main international gateway for San Pedro La Laguna. From GUA most visitors take a shuttle or private transfer to Panajachel (about 2.5-3 hours by road), then transfer to a boat. Shared shuttles from the airport to Panajachel typically cost Q150-Q250 (roughly US$20-30) and take around 2.5-3.5 hours.
La Aurora (via Antigua): Many travellers route via Antigua Guatemala (short transfer from the airport) and then a shuttle to Panajachel; Antigua→Panajachel shuttles take about 2-2.5 hours and cost roughly Q150-Q200.
Train: Guatemala has no passenger rail network for these routes; train travel is not an option to Lake Atitlán.
Bus / Shuttle / Chicken bus: From Panajachel you take a public lancha (boat) across Lake Atitlán to San Pedro La Laguna; boats run frequently and the crossing takes about 20-30 minutes. Boat fares are approximately Q20-Q40 (around US$3-5). Overland, public buses and shuttle services connect Guatemala City or Antigua with Panajachel; chicken buses are cheaper but slower, while tourist shuttles are faster and more comfortable.

- Chicken bus / Public bus (Q30-Q80) - Local ‘chicken buses’ (repurposed school buses) run between Guatemala City/Antigua and Panajachel at lower cost. They’re very cheap but slower and less comfortable than tourist shuttles-expect multiple stops and crowded conditions.
