How to Get to San Isidro de El General
San Isidro de El General (Pérez Zeledón) is reached by road from San José's airports (SJO or SYQ) with regular interprovincial buses and private shuttles. There is no intercity train service to the region; buses are the practical public option.
Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO): The main international airport near San José is SJO. From SJO you can take an interprovincial bus or a private shuttle toward Pérez Zeledón / San Isidro de El General - the land journey typically takes about 3-4 hours by road depending on traffic and costs vary by service: public buses are the cheapest, while private shuttles/taxis are faster and considerably more expensive.
Tobías Bolaños Airport (SYQ): Tobías Bolaños in San José handles mainly domestic and private flights; it is not typically used for international arrivals but can be a useful departure/arrival point for domestic connections.
