By Air

Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO): The main international airport near San José is SJO. From SJO you can take an interprovincial bus or a private shuttle toward Pérez Zeledón / San Isidro de El General - the land journey typically takes about 3-4 hours by road depending on traffic and costs vary by service: public buses are the cheapest, while private shuttles/taxis are faster and considerably more expensive.

Tobías Bolaños Airport (SYQ): Tobías Bolaños in San José handles mainly domestic and private flights; it is not typically used for international arrivals but can be a useful departure/arrival point for domestic connections. Transfers by road to San Isidro de El General take several hours similar to SJO but start closer to the city centre.
