Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, Bujumbura (BJM) / Gitega region airports: Burundi’s main international air access is via Bujumbura (note: airport operations have changed over time); from Bujumbura you travel overland to Rumonge by road. Road transfers from Bujumbura to Rumonge typically take around 1-2 hours depending on traffic and route.
Rumonge local airstrips: Rumonge itself does not have scheduled commercial flights; most visitors arrive by road from Bujumbura or via overland routes from Tanzania/Rwanda where border crossings are used.
