How to Get to Ruili
Ruili is primarily reached by regional flights from Kunming or by long-distance buses. If you plan to cross the China-Myanmar border, confirm current border/visa procedures and local transport options in advance.
Ruili Mingyi (Ruili) Airport (RLI): Ruili has a regional airport with flights to Kunming and other Yunnan cities. From the airport to downtown Ruili it’s roughly a 15-30 minute drive; taxis cost around CNY 20-60 and airport shuttles are often cheaper.
Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG): For international arrivals Kunming is the main hub; fly to Kunming then take a domestic flight or a long-distance bus to Ruili (bus travel can take several hours; flight time is about 1 hour).
Train: At present rail access to Ruili is limited - the Dali-Ruili railway project has been under construction (status may change), so check China Railway for updates before planning.
Bus: Long-distance buses connect Ruili with Kunming and other Yunnan cities; journeys are several hours and fares typically range from CNY 80-200 depending on distance and service class. Local taxis and minibuses connect the airport, border checkpoints and downtown.
