Rietavas Travel Guide
City Lithuanian town with historic manor and cultural life
Rietavas offers a small-town pace around a manor park and a slender neo-Gothic church; weekend fairs draw locals. People visit for riverside walks, seasonal markets and home-style Lithuanian plates in cafés that still bake rye bread.
Why Visit Rietavas? #
A compact Samogitian town with surprising historical and cultural quirks, Rietavas is known for its 19th-century manor and the legacy of the Tiškevičiai family. One of the earliest Lithuanian towns to introduce public electricity, it pairs that industrial first with traditional Samogitian music, folk events, and the Rietavas Regional Museum. Travelers seeking small-town Lithuanian life find wooden architecture, riverside parks, and seasonal festivals that highlight local crafts and regional cuisine.
