Regent’s Park is one of London’s Royal Parks in central north London, offering a mix of formal gardens, open lawns, tree-lined avenues and recreational facilities. The park is managed as public open space and is a significant green area within the city.

Visitors find formal flower beds, the boating lake, sports pitches and tree-lined promenades; an open-air theatre operates in summer and the park is popular with runners and families. The northern boundary of the park hosts ZSL London Zoo, which is a major visitor attraction adjacent to the park.

The park was laid out in the early 19th century and has since been adapted to provide both ornamental gardens and recreational amenities while preserving large open spaces. Maintenance and landscape design have kept its character as a managed urban park.

Regent’s Park sits north of Oxford Street and Baker Street in central London, straddling the City of Westminster and the Borough of Camden, and is within easy reach of central London neighbourhoods and public transport.

• Queen Mary’s Gardens: An informal central area of flower gardens and lawns known as the Queen Mary’s Gardens, offering formal beds and seasonal plantings near the park’s inner circle.
• Boating lake and Outer Circle: The Outer Circle and the boating lake form key landscape features; the boating lake is used for small craft and is bordered by paths and habitats for waterfowl.
• London Zoo: Home to the ZSL London Zoo along the northern edge, which occupies a substantial site adjacent to the park’s open spaces.

Regent’s Park is in central London. Nearest Tube stations include Regent’s Park (Bakerloo line) on the southern edge, and Great Portland Street or Baker Street a short walk away. From London King’s Cross it’s about 1-1.5 km (roughly a 15-25 minute walk) or one or two short Underground stops.

• Visit on weekday mornings or late afternoons to avoid weekend family crowds; the formal Queen Mary's Gardens (the rose garden) is usually much quieter early in the day.
• Enter from the Baker Street/Outer Circle side if you want quick access to the formal gardens and the boating lake; this approach also puts you close to the park's ornamental avenues and the Open Air Theatre.
• Many visitors miss the quieter northern paths and the park's smaller sports and ornamental gardens-walk beyond the central band to find peaceful viewpoints and fewer people.
