The Quirinal Palace is an official residence on Rome’s Quirinal Hill that currently serves as the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic. The building has been used at different times as a papal palace and as the royal palace of the Kingdom of Italy.

Visitors to the exterior will note the palace façade, the large forecourt, and the adjacent Quirinal Gardens; inside, the palace contains state apartments used for ceremonies and receptions. The palace complex houses official offices and a permanent collection of decorative arts and furnishings used for state business.

Construction and enlargement took place over several centuries beginning in the late 16th century as a papal residence; after Italian unification it became the royal palace and in 1946 the presidential residence. The site has been adapted to administrative and ceremonial uses across these changes.

The palace sits on the Quirinal Hill in central Rome, between Via Veneto and Piazza del Quirinale, within walking distance of other central landmarks and transport links.

Numerous city buses run along Via Nazionale and nearby streets; if arriving by Termini station the palace is a short walk or a quick bus/taxi ride.

• Arrive before your tour time at Piazza del Quirinale to clear security checks and to enjoy unobstructed views of the obelisk and the hill's outlook; crowds peak in mid‑day when multiple tours converge.
