Viterbo City
City in Lazio, Italy
Medieval Viterbo rewards slow walking: the Papal Palace, the cobbled San Pellegrino quarter, nearby thermal baths and local vineyards producing wines you’ll find in small osterias.
Why Visit Viterbo?#
Medieval streets and papal history draw visitors to Viterbo for a dose of Italy’s quieter past. The Papal Palace and the cobbled Centro Storico showcase medieval architecture, while the Terme dei Papi hot springs offer thermal baths that local families have used for generations. Time your trip for the Macchina di Santa Rosa procession if you can; otherwise, narrow lanes, stone courtyards and trattorie make for slow, satisfying exploration.
