The Quay with Sphinxes is a riverside display of two ancient Egyptian sphinx statues mounted on the University Embankment of the Neva River in Saint Petersburg. The statues are antiquities brought to the city in the 19th century.
The sphinxes were acquired and transported to Saint Petersburg in the 19th century and installed on the embankment where they have remained as a decorative and historic feature of the riverfront. They date from ancient Egypt and are among several Egyptian artifacts placed in European cities during that period.
Sited on the University Embankment along the Neva in central Saint Petersburg, close to the Academy of Arts and other well-known cultural institutions.
